Yesterday marked the start of Hispanic Heritage Month so, in recognition of this national month of celebration, we’re shining a spotlight on the contributions and accomplishments of Elizabeth Cañongo, operations specialist with Draper and Kramer, Incorporated.

Elizabeth describes herself and her family as Mexican-American, and enjoys celebrating her family’s heritage and culture. “I have three teenaged children – including two daughters – and one is turning 15. So we’re in the process of planning her quinceañera, which is a traditional celebration marking the transition from childhood to womanhood,” Elizabeth said.

Elizabeth is used to wearing many hats, with “party planner” being just one of them. As an operations specialist for Draper and Kramer, she also assumes a number of roles, from assisting with IT issues to serving as an assistant property manager – which entails aiding with lease renewals, move-outs, deposit accounting, and reporting. “I love working with many different departments within the company, and being someone the team counts on to fix things,” she said.

Other family members, including two more teens and an adult, are standing beside them, smiling and enjoying their time together.
Elizabeth Cañongo enjoys a day out with her family. As a proud Mexican-American, she cherishes family traditions, including planning her daughter’s upcoming quinceañera, while balancing work, school, and quality family time.

However, Elizabeth’s accomplishments don’t end there. She is also currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in management. She’s on track to finish her degree in May and has maintained a 4.0 GPA – all while working full time! “My time at Draper and Kramer really is what influenced me to pursue this degree. Twelve years ago, I started what I call a ‘job’ and through the company, it’s turned into a ‘career,’” she said.

These days, Elizabeth admits she doesn’t have quite as much free time as she’d like, but when she does, she enjoys baking, crafting and time with her family.
