Chief Investment Officer
Blas Puzon joined Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, in January 2018 as senior vice president of acquisitions, and led the strategic expansion of the company’s portfolio through new property investments in Chicago and Dallas. Named chief investment officer in 2019, Blas is now responsible for all portfolio management and investment functions including acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, property management, development and capital formation.
While in his current role, Blas spearheaded the consolidation of approximately $1.3 billion of company gross assets into Draper and Kramer’s open-ended investment fund, DK Fund, LP, which has expanded its property holdings outside of Chicago and into multiple growth markets in the southern and western U.S.
Before his tenure with Draper and Kramer, Blas spent 15 years with the Pinnacle Family of Companies in Seattle, driving portfolio value and growth. He oversaw the firm’s affiliated investment company, Olympic Investors, growing the company through the acquisition and investment management of 35 properties comprising approximately 10,000 units, while sourcing and partnering with institutional capital, including the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI). Prior to his career in real estate investments, Blas worked as a land development engineer, providing civil design services for corporate office parks and master planned developments.
Blas holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington and an MBA in finance and real estate from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a member of National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), and Filipinos in Institutional Real Estate (FIIRE). He was also previously named a finalist for Illinois Real Estate Journal’s Executive of the Year honor.
