Chief Financial Officer

James Hayes serves as the chief financial officer for Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, responsible for the overall financial management of the company. This includes accounting, balance sheet management, financial planning and analysis, corporate treasury, business acquisition and divestiture, investor relations, corporate investments and tax.

Jim joined the company in 2007 and has played a key role in the significant transformation and growth of the company, including the consolidation of its real estate holdings into a $1.3 billion real estate equity fund, DK Fund, LP.  In addition, Jim grew the borrowing capacity of the company to facilitate the growth of the residential business from $2 billion to high water make of $9 billion in mortgage loan originations. Jim also focused on  several business divestitures to support Draper and Kramer’s strategic plan.

Before joining Draper and Kramer, Jim began his career with the audit practice of Arthur Anderson LLC, then took a role as controller and treasurer of Prism Mortgage Company, which became one of the top 25 mortgage originators in the United States.  After a successful initial public offering, the company was acquired by Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). He continued with RBC, focused on U.S.-based mergers and acquisitions. Jim most recently served as senior vice of Baytree National Bank and Trust, responsible for mortgage and cash management operations.

Jim holds an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Northern Illinois University.
