For our October Employee Spotlight, Draper and Kramer, Incorporated is highlighting Carlos Frutos, Property Manager at Hubbard 221, who is celebrating his 7-year anniversary with the company this month.
Carlos first joined Draper and Kramer as a leasing agent, and quickly advanced to his current role as a property manager – which means he is responsible for overseeing nearly every aspect of life at Hubbard 221, a luxury high-rise building in Chicago’s River North neighborhood.
“From resident relations to maintenance to leasing, I get to work with the team members responsible for each facet of running a property of this size. My job is to ensure everything runs smoothly and our residents are happy, and I love it,” said Carlos. “The eight people on my team are the best, and I am fortunate to work with people who are as dedicated to doing the right thing as I am.”
In fact, Carlos said the people at Draper and Kramer in general are his favorite thing about working for the company. “Everyone is so smart and great at what they do,” he noted. “I’ve learned so much and been incredibly supported professionally. Draper and Kramer values its people and, as an employee, I definitely feel that.”
“Carlos is very respected in our organization and always has such a positive attitude. He seeks knowledge and is always looking for ways to improve things,” said Julie Stevlingson, CPM, Senior Vice President and Director of Management Services. “He played an active role in the DK Elevate group, which helped build relationships with other managers, and is always looking to help out his colleagues when they need him.”
Before joining Draper and Kramer, Carlos had a 10-year career in retail. When a relative who worked for the company told him about an available leasing position, Carlos decided he’d like to try taking his customer relations experience into a new field. “I’m so glad I went for it,” he shared.
In his personal time, Carlos loves working with his hands on projects such as building a bookshelf for his son’s bedroom. He also loves the quality time he spends with his wife and son, trying new things and visiting new places together.
Whether it’s his family or his team members, Carlos says he loves taking care of people, and appreciates all the care he receives in return.
