One of the ways Draper and Kramer, Incorporated celebrates its team members is through corporate awards – with one of the most highly regarded being the Bulldog Award. It’s awarded annually to someone who 1.) stands up for their beliefs even when they seem unpopular, 2.) never gives up and pursues new ways to accomplish the objective, 3.) can be counted on, and 4.) is loyal to their team and purpose. These statements and more perfectly describe Peter Nagle, Draper and Kramer’s Director of Information Technology – this year’s Bulldog winner and our August employee spotlight.
“One of the best pieces of professional advice I’ve received is ‘You can always do more’,” said Peter, “and I really do try to approach my career and responsibilities with that mindset.” Colleagues he’s worked with throughout his nine years with Draper and Kramer agree.
“Peter is consistently a positive and professional partner to all at DK, and has created an atmosphere where people enjoy working with IT, rather than feel apprehensive” noted Jim Hayes, Chief Financial Officer for Draper and Kramer. “He never backs down from a challenge and takes the time to understand what needs to be done.”
In his role as the firm’s IT director, Peter is responsible for supplying and maintaining all technologies for our corporate office as well as every Draper and Kramer property throughout Illinois, Arizona, Colorado, Missouri and Texas. Before joining DK, Peter had a long IT career in the financial industry, starting out as a back-office clerk, processing mergers at the Chicago Stock Exchange. He advanced into management positions with the Exchange before moving on to serve as the Chief Information Officer for an international financial services firm for 17 years. However, despite his original focus on the financial sector, Peter says the shift to real estate and property management wasn’t difficult.
He credits much as that seamless transition to his supportive colleagues, whom he describes as professional and committed. “The people I work with and the camaraderie we share are honestly my favorite parts of my job,” Peter says.
When not at work, Peter’s passions are rather low-tech, including golfing, craft beer, cycling, Chicago sports teams and, most importantly, his family – his wife, two children and a new puppy.
