“Remain adaptable and open to learning. Real estate is constantly evolving so you should always stay curious, continue your education and embrace change.”
That, says Tara Hoerth, leasing director with Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, is the best piece of professional advice she’s received in her eight years in the industry. She credits her adaptability for the professional success she’s enjoyed.
“Every day brings something new – a new interaction, meeting a new potential resident, a new challenge. That’s probably my favorite aspect of my job, the fact every day brings something new, and I get to know so many different people,” she says.
In her role as a leasing director, Tara wears many hats, from setting professional goals for her team to training leasing agents and providing professional development to interacting with potential and current residents to ensure satisfaction. She also develops and executes various leasing strategies to maximize property occupancy, ensure resident retention and meet the financial goals of the property.
“Tara is truly an all-around leader in our company,” notes Kevin Cooky, assistant vice president with Draper and Kramer. “She has established excellent rapport with property owner groups, reporting leasing data and market information directly to them. She also is someone we turn to for mentoring our newer leasing consultants. She delivers excellence, regardless of the task.
Prior to entering the real estate industry and being referred by a friend to Draper and Kramer, Tara enjoyed 15 years in the retail industry, which she credits for preparing her well for her current position. “Both industries require strong customer service skills, so the experience I had in retail were a natural fit for building relationships in real estate,” she notes.
Tara’s adaptable nature also aligns with her personal passion for travel. “Traveling opens the door to experiencing diverse landscapes, people and traditions. I love the thrill of discovering new places,” she says.
